Welcome to our second My Sweet Petunia
Focus Friday

We’re so happy to have you here for another dose of inspiration. Before we jump into today’s beautiful card-making tutorial with Deniz Do, we wanted to share a quick reminder: this week’s Team Tuesday blog post includes a giveaway for a $25.00 My Sweet Petunia gift certificate. If you haven’t entered yet, there’s still time—the winner will be drawn later this evening, so be sure to head over and join in the fun before then! Let's check out Deniz's tutorial!

Hi friends, and happy new year! I hope 2026 brings you lots of joy and creativity. I’m kicking things off with this fun and surprisingly easy see-through shaped card, and I’m excited to share how it came together.

I started with the Painted Daisies stamp, die, and stencil set from Pinkfresh Studio. Using my MISTI (of course!), I stamped the floral image onto a 4.25" × 5.5" panel and heat-embossed it in gold for a soft, elegant outline.

Next came the coloring. I used Pinkfresh Studio inks in Cherry Blossom, Peony, Sunkissed, Spanish Moss, Sage, and Eucalyptus, applying them with the coordinating stencils to build up the layers of color. Once everything was blended, I die-cut the floral image using the matching die. So far, so easy!

To create the shaped card base, I took an A2 card base (4.25" × 5.5" when folded) and positioned the same floral die slightly off to the left of the fold. The key here is to make sure the die does not cut completely through the crease, otherwise the card front would detach. Once I was happy with the placement, I securely taped the die in place and ran it through my Spellbinders Platinum Six several times to ensure a clean cut through all layers.

For added strength, I die-cut two additional floral shapes from white cardstock and glued them to the inside of the card. This part requires a bit of patience, as you’ll need to trim along the edge that aligns with the fold, so the card opens and closes smoothly. Definitely the trickiest step, but well worth it!

For the sentiment, I used the Color Block Stripes die from Pinkfresh Studio to create a slim strip, ink-blended it with Eucalyptus ink. Once dry, I heat-embossed a sentiment from the Charming Floral Border stamp set in gold. My Petunia Platform and Pawn Magnets were incredibly helpful here for keeping everything perfectly in place.

To finish the card, I layered a few extra cardstock strips behind the sentiment for dimension and adhered it to the front of the card.

I hope you enjoyed this project and feel inspired to try a shaped see-through card of your own. Thanks so much for stopping by, and happy crafting in 2026! - Deniz

  1. Such a pretty card. A good way to use the large dies.

  2. I’m gosh! Using this method to cut the card shape opens a whole new world! And I feel rather silly to have not thought of adding card stock behind the sentiment strip so it lies flat rather than wavy from dimensionals!

  3. Just a lovely & unique card- so difficult to accomplish w/o the Misti!
