Team Tuesday with Kia

Hello everyone, Kia here with you today to share a card I made that is a bit unusual for me. It has a different look, but in the end I do like it, and hope you will as well.
I started with my background. Using Color Burst in Ultramarine Blue I added the powder to Fabriano Hot Press watercolour paper and spritzed with a fair amount of water. I would normally help with the movement, but I decided to let it go where it wanted and left it to dry.
In my original Misti I then stamped the Beautiful Flowers image using Versamark Ink, and heat embossed with gold embossing powder. As this stamp set does not have a coordinating die I cut the image with my ScanNCut, then proceeded to watercolour using Zig Clean Colour Brushes.

I did several layers of colour until I was happy. Once completed I put the image back in my mini Misti and using the back side of the mouse pad I styled the back of the stamped image to add dimension. I flicked gold paint on the blue panel and stamped my sentiment  heat embossing with the gold embossing powder.
I added foam dots to the back before attaching to my card base, and finished my card by adding Nuvo Jewel Drops in Clear. You could also use the Sea Breeze drops.
I did not want to add anything further, there is a lot going on with this card already, but it certainly was fun to do something different from your norm. I highly recommend it.
This is a close up of my finished card.

I have also done a video of this card and the process. It is a bit longer than what I would like ... I do take my time when I paint.
Thank you for visiting My Sweet Petunia today. I hope you have enjoyed the card I brought you today.

Team Tuesday with Ilina

Hi stampers,
Ilina here today with a square card using the Gina K Wreath Builder set and stencil that is made to go with the MISTI. And makes stamping pretty wreaths a breeze.
You only need few colors, my MISTI and the set! After you are done stamping the wreath, use glue pen to apply on the leaves and petals, once dry apply opal foil to add some extra interest. FInish it off with adding jewels in the center of the flowers!
Quick and easy!

Alexandre Renke Blog Hop + Giveaway

When we met the Renke team at Creativation in January, we were just astonished at the beauty in their booth.

The brand was new to us, and their giant books of the stunning illustrations used on their paper was breathtaking, to say the least.

Add in a few warm, gracious women, and we knew it was the beginning of a beautiful relationship. So a conversation at that booth turned into a collaboration we've been excited about for months - a joint blog hop with their team.

What was so interesting about their products though is that while the stunning papers were recognizable as Renke from a mile away, she also has a WIDE range of style in her stamps and dies that is so charming - and also has something about it that makes it RENKEgnizable. :) We just love everything they do, here at My Sweet Petunia.

So I went in a different direction today with my card as a guest here on the blog. My blog post features the softer, watercolor look she's so known for, so I went full on modern for this card, with this adorable little boy and girl.

I had a stencil brushed background in my UFO pile that was graphic and bold and perfect for my black and white featured images. The stencil is this one, and the ink is Red Royal.

Then I stamped the little characters from Little Friends in black and cut them out. The Bubbles Frame dies double cut so you get that little frame around them. Love that. Then the sentiments from Best Wishes fit perfectly. Easy, simple, but graphic and fun.

Team Tuesday with Stephanie

Today I'm having fun with Vicki Boutin Crayons, Technique Junkie Background Stamps and my MISTI.

If you'd like to purchase any Technique Junkie products, you can use my discount code TJ10Stephanie at checkout for 10% off your order. (except the new June release, which are already 15% off through the 8th).

Using my MISTI makes it easy to create fun water-colory backgrounds.

I started with my MISTI, Watercolor Paper, Technique Junkies Stencil Rings Stamp, blue Vicki Boutin Crayons, and a spray bottle of water (one that has a fine mist is best).

I colored the background stamp, spritzed with water and stamped.

I added a bit more color and stamped a second time to get the blend I wanted.  This technique works best with looser, more abstract stamps that are more forgiving.

The front of my card has some Color Burst Watercolored paper together with one-of-two Inside Out Live Forever Sentiments together with the Birthday Cat.

The inside sentiment with a strip of the Color Burst Paper is:

My second card uses the same TJ Stencil Rings Stamp with Greens.

Same water-spritzing and stamping with my MISTI (I got this one a little wetter, which causes the rings to spread a bit more for a slightly different look).

Even though the Inside Out Forever stamps are made to go on the inside & outside of the card, I also think it works well to include both sentiments on the front of the card like I did with this design.

I stamped the tequila glass from Technique Junkies Call the Girls and trimmed it to use as the embellishment on my design.  I used a light green marker to color the lime.

My final card uses the Technique Junkies Paint Rings Background Stamp with Red, Pink and Orange Crayons.

The circles reminded me of baseballs, so I used Versafine CLAIR Nocturne Ink to stamp the Technique Junkies Swing for the Fences Baseball Glove on top of the Paint Rings.  I stamped my coordinating sentiment in Mandarin Spice to pull a bit more orange into my design.

I matted my watercolored piece on black cardstock for my finished card.

This technique will also work with Fiber Castell Gelatos (and possibly other medium too ... let me know if you try one with your MISTI ... I'd love to see it).

Dad, I Miss You

My dad had always wanted to start his own business.  He had many attempts with just as many fails, but he always kept dreaming and trying.   I told him all about my plans for selling a tool I designed.  He kept asking about how it was going every time we talked on the phone.  Unfortunately,  he passed away only one month into the start.  For that reason,  Father's Day has been a somber day for me the last 4 years.  But I am grateful to know that my dad knew he was loved.  I still make Father's Day cards.  I make one for my husband and for my father-in-law.

For this card I used Versamark Ink to stamp the Simon Says Stamp Abstract Triangle Background stamp.   I thought that Ranger Liquid Platinum Embossing Powder would work well for a masculine card along with the Gansi Tambi Watercolors.   The letters for dad are actually Thickers that I had in my stash from scrapbooking.  The smaller sentiment is from Altenew Amazing You  stamp set.

Masculine cards are hard for me so when I have one I like I make multiples for different occasions. This was easy to change up with different sentiments.  I looked high and low for a set of alphabet dies that would make the perfect sentiment.  With all the stuff I own, I still couldn't find the right one.  Then I remembered to look in the neglected scrapbook drawer.  The letters for happy are chipboard letters that I had in my stash.  The birthday is from the Altenew Birthday Builder stamp set.

My final card uses the Simon Says Stamp Painted Thanks die and Altenew Many Thanks stamp sets.  The card still needed an extra something so I settled on the Studio Katia Silver Foil Crystals.

I hope you tell the men in your life how appreciated and loved they are.  If they are gone, I hope you can find a pleasant memory that will bring you a smile when you think of them.

Thanks for stopping by!
