Team Tuesday: Beautiful Fall Watercolors with an Unexpected Twist!

Who knew something as simple as bubble wrap could create such a beautiful background? For today's Team Tuesday, Design Team member Kassi Hulet is sharing a gorgeous autumn card featuring beautifully watercolored pumpkins, soft seasonal colors, and a wonderfully unexpected stamping technique! By combining recycled bubble wrap with Lindy's Magicals, Kassi creates a unique, textured-looking background that perfectly complements her warm pumpkin duo. And with her MISTI Lite, Petunia Platform, and Power Mag helping throughout the creative process, she shows how the right tools can make everything from stamping on textured watercolor paper to painting intricate details easier and more enjoyable. Hello friends!

I know many companies have moved to more ecofriendly packaging, but occasionally I still get bubble wrap in a package… and of course I save it to use in my art! It makes a fabulous stamp!

Let’s start with the background. I used Lindy’s Magicals (London Summer Sage) for today’s background, but you could also use regular ink, watercolor, or acrylic paint! If you are using Lindy’s Magicals, ink up your bubble wrap with some VersaMark ink, lightly sprinkle the Magicals powder over the wet ink, lightly spray with water, then stamp onto your paper. The more water you add, the less defined your pattern will be, so play around with the amount of water to determine what look you like best. 

Set your background aside to dry and we’ll get started on the pumpkins on a separate piece of paper. I stamped 2 pumpkins using 2 different stamp sets. I stamped the front pumpkin, then masked it with some low tack tape, then stamped the back pumpkin.

Because I want to do some no line watercolor, I used Fadeout ink (Inkon3), and watercolor paper. I like to use cold press watercolor paper that has some texture, so using either the MISTI or the MISTI Lite makes my life a lot easier as I usually have to double or triple stamp to get a perfectly clear image on the textured paper.

Now to add color- I used a variety of watercolors to paint my pumpkins. I like to leave my paper on the Platform while I paint. It is an easy way to keep my paper and my watercolor pans in place while I work, while still giving me the freedom to easily spin, or tip my project to move the watercolors on the paper.

Because I used masking to create my pumpkin duo, there is no die… I went old school and fussy cut.

Moving back to the background, figure out where you want your pumpkins, then you can add in some shadow/ground. It will look a bit odd now, but it will ground the pumpkins once they are layered over it. 

I also die cut the background with a stitched rectangle die 

Add the pumpkins and a sentiment… 

I tied some twine around the stamped panel before layering it with a few fall colored papers, then to the A2 card base

Hello everyone! Anna here, from a somewhat chilly Pacific Northwest! Fall has definitely settled in, and I’m here for it! Autumn has always been my favorite season. The fall colors, the cool air, even the air smells of the season. The cards I’m sharing with you today embrace the colors and feeling of the season. I used the recently released Barns stamp set and Received Ledger background stamp, both from SweetMissDaisy Designs.

I used the Mini Misti to stamp the barn scenes on textured watercolor paper in a permanent ink suitable for using with watercolors. Using the Mini Misti allowed me to stamp the images multiple times on the textured paper, ensuring perfect impressions. Once each barn scene was stamped, I painted the images with watercolor paints, adding a bit of Vintage Photo Distress Ink around the edges of each piece. I stamped a sentiment on each panel, again using the Mini Misti for perfect placement and the ability to make multiple impressions.

Once I assembled the cards, I added a bit of metallic “moon gold” watercolor splatter to each card. I love it!

Fall crafting has officially arrived on the My Sweet Petunia blog! 🍂 For today’s Team Tuesday, Design Team member Jordan Hansen is reaching into her stash and giving a beautiful older fall stamp set some well-deserved attention. Hey, it's Jordan here from Jordan's Easy Entertaining. Want to make even the simplest gift feel extra special? A beautiful handmade gift tag can turn an ordinary party favor or little thank you treat into something truly memorable. Today I'm sharing how I used my Mini MISTI and Precision Glue Press to create these charming floral gift tags with a vintage touch. 

To get started, I used the Essential Tags Etched Dies by Lisa Horton from Spellbinders and my Platinum 6 Die Cutting machine to cut the gift tags out of heavy cardstock.

Then I used several stamps from the Delicate Garden by Altenew in my Mini MISTI to stamp "you are the best" and some florals on to the gift tags with Altenew Obsidian Pigment Ink.

Once the black ink was completely dry, I used the coordinating stencils from the Delicate Garden set to add color to the florals. 

I then used another blending brush to add brown ink to the edges of the gift tags for a vintage feel.

Next I used my Precision Glue Press to attach the tiny detail of a gold cardstock ring from the Essential Tags Etched Dies by Lisa Horton.                 

Once the glue was dry I added ribbon to each tag as a finishing touch. 

I think these pretty floral tags would be the perfect finishing touch for fall party favors. Just imagine them tied to little bags of treats, mini jars of homemade jam, or thoughtful gifts for your guests. It's such a simple way to add a handmade touch and make everyone feel extra special.

Hello Friends!

Both my mom and my grandmother were great gardeners. I spent many afternoons helping each of them in their different gardens. Those memories are so precious to me! Unfortunately, I did not inherit the green thumb… I try, but the deer and slugs constantly eat everything I plant and leave only weeds and wild blackberries to grow uncontrollably…  I’m pretty sure anyone who comes to visit my house wonders why the yard looks like it’s been neglected for years.

Since I can’t successfully grow a beautiful garden, I paint them…

This particular floral stamp from Brass and Bliss (Hellebore Floral) is just small enough it fits on the MISTI Lite, so I started by taping down my watercolor paper to the Platform, then using Inkon3 Fadeout ink to stamp my flowers. I’m finding that I really like being able to just tape my paper down and leave it while I stamp and paint. The MISTI Lite simplifies my process more than I realized it would!

My favorite part is always the painting, but I find that yellows can be a bit tricky. Adding in the necessary shadows can sometimes leave your yellows feeling a bit dull or dirty, so I used a peach color to ensure I got the contrast but didn’t lose the warmth or vibrance. These colors are a mix of Deep Deep Light, and Masha’s watercolors.

After painting, I brought back in my MISTI Lite to add in the sentiment- this one is from Gina K. Designs Blissful Blossoms.

I finished my card by die cutting my painted panel using Brass and Bliss Nested Frame 1, then matting that with some coral cardstock that was embossed using Gina K. Designs Petite Floral embossing folder. This was then glued to the front of an A2 card.

Hi crafty friends! Today I’m sharing a cheerful little card featuring an adorable school scene from Trinity Stamps with a fun shaker twist!

I started by using my MISTI to stamp the school bus and the coordinating images, then coloured everything in soft, happy colours before die cutting the pieces. For the background, I masked off a simple roadway and added a very light blend of colour to keep the scene clean and bright.

I ink blended some warm yellows on my card base behind where the bus would be. I then stamped the bus on heat resistant acetate and added to my front panel and created a shaker window inside the bus and filled it with a mix of yellow, clear and iridescent shaker bits. I love how the sparkle adds interest without taking away from the sweet, stamped images.

Once everything was assembled, I arranged the cutie elements around the bus and finished the card with Hero Arts sentiments.

It’s Ceal, here. Today I am sharing a Halloween card with you using supplies from My Sweet Petunia.  I started with a white top-folding card base and a white panel. I created an ink-blended background with Halloween colors.

I placed a panel of white cardstock down on the Petunia Platform and used a Power Mag to hold it in place while ink-blended a background.  Next, I placed a panel in the Original MISTI and stamped the shoe, colored it using OLO markers, and cut it out with the coordinating die.

To finish the card, I added some gold splatter and embossed the spider web in gold as well. 

What a fun way to kick off some Halloween crafting! We love how Ceal paired that gorgeous pink, orange, and lime background with the whimsical witch’s shoe—and the touches of gold take the whole design up another notch. Her Petunia Platform and Power Mag kept her cardstock secure while blending that beautifully saturated background, while the Original MISTI gave her the stamping precision she needed for the star of the card. Hey! It's Jordan here from Jordan's Easy Entertaining.  I am more than ready for some fall crafting!  For today’s card, I went digging through my stash and pulled out an older Spellbinders stamp set that I thought deserved a little love. The beautiful fall foliage was perfect for breaking out some of my favorite autumn colors, and of course, my MISTI helped me get everything stamped just right. I love how this warm and cozy thank you card came together!

I started this card by cutting out a panel of white cardstock with a die from the 

• Nested Postage Labels & Tag Etched Dies from Spellbinders.  Then I placed that cardstock into my MISTI and used the Spellbinders Fall Thoughtfulness clear stamp set to stamp this beautiful fall foliage bouquet image and a sentiment that says "thank you for your thoughtfulness" using Altenew Obsidian Pigment Ink.

After my ink completely dried, I colored in the image using Altenew alcohol markers.

The rest of the card came together really easily. I die cut a piece of shimmery brown cardstock with the coordinating postage die from the Nested Postage Labels & Tag Etched Dies set to create a border around the focal panel, then attached the two pieces together with foam tape for a little extra dimension. Next, I used my Precision Glue Press to adhere the layered focal panel to the plaid background before attaching everything to an A2 sized card base.

As always, my final step was to stamp my custom Altenew “created by Jordan Hansen” stamp on the back of my card using my MISTI LITE and Petunia Platform.

I think handmade cards are such a sweet way to let someone know how much you appreciate them, and this one is ready to send the next time someone does something especially thoughtful.
