Poop! There It Is
That sentiment brings a smile to my face. I could not resist purchasing this stamp from The Paper Forest in Washington, Illinois. I was invited there to come for a visit. It had been a long time since I had stepped into a scrapbook store. Our local one closed a while back. All we have here are the big box stores. I walked around the store several times to make sure that I didn't miss a thing.
When I sat down to make something, I was at a loss as to where to begin. Inspiration was an arms length away. On the shelf next to me are books of sketches that I hadn't picked up in a long time.
As I looked through the sketches, I found one that would fit the stamp I wanted to use. Then I looked through my box of 6x6 paper and found paper from a while back. It really felt good to use supplies in my stash from long ago. I did manage to find a store that still had the paper pad.
When I get in a rut, sometimes I just pull out a kit and make the exact things others have made. I find it relaxing to just make something and follow the directions than to think of something new and original.
I hope that you don't mind that I pulled out old supplies to use with new stamps and used a sketch. As crafters we go for the latest and greatest and we don't have time to use all our supplies. Sometimes, with a little help (like a sketch) we can make a dent on our abundance of products that we have saved with 'some day' in mind.
Where do you go for inspiration when you get in a rut?

What a fun card. When I need inspiration I usually go to crafter's blogs or magazines.
ReplyDeleteIliana,
ReplyDeleteI, personally, love seeing you use what you have in your stash and not the "latest and greatest". I have been giving a lot of thought to how much stuff I really do own. I watch videos and get caught up wanting the products that were used, when I could just come away with an idea for a technique I haven't used in a long time or inspiration for a great color combination.
Your card is so cute! I am sure you had a wonderful time shopping at a real LSS!
I have been really trying to use what I have. Since I don't have a local store, I have to shop my own stash. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteSo "stinkin' CUTE"! (Pun intended! LOL)
ReplyDeleteLove this.
ReplyDeleteSnarky is my middle name.
thanks for sharing.
It's been a while since I've been to Paper Forest. I agree, there is something special about being able to walk around a "real" scrapbook store. I just wish it wasn't an hour and a half away... BTW, my creative corners arrived today and I'm ready to play.
ReplyDeleteMaybe next time I go I will let you know.
DeleteOops, I'm such a dork. I forgot to mention how much I loved your card and the inspiration to revisit my old stash.
ReplyDeleteI find this a refreshing and wise reminder! Too often many of us put aside "new and never used" products because, way too quickly, we move on to purchase the latest and greatest.
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute and fun card!! Thanks for sharing so many thoughts - one, that is ok to copy others - it's refreshing to hear that even the pros, like you, do that. It's also good reminder to use what we have. . . I love to purchase the latest and greatest. I made a resolution this year to not purchase anything new - no stamps, inks, dies. I'm having a hard time with that and have already purchased new stamps. . . . but one thing I'm very excited about is my new purchase of the creative corners. Love THEM!! Super great idea!!
ReplyDeleteIt's normal to use other's creators ideas, otherwise why would they do all the work to produce a book with them ? And it's also good to see that I'm not the only one who need help to set-up a card.... ;-))
ReplyDeleteI love your card, it's so funny. This stamps set is really cute.
Adorable card and stamp set. I was excited to see that there is a real scrapbook store that close to me. "Close" being adjusted to mean within three hours of me. Will have to go check it out.
ReplyDeleteI don't think using a sketch is any different than using Pinterest. Love the card and I'm all for rediscovering old goodies in my stash.
ReplyDeleteAdorable card!! Love that you raised your stash to make it. My craft room looks like a mini scrapbook store & every time I see something new I want it. I'm trying to stop buying & see if I can use products I already own & get the same effect. I do have the Misti Corners on my list of things I really NEED though!😆
ReplyDeleteJust adorable. I look for inspiration everywhere.
