Ginger

I have really been making an effort to stamp as much as possible.  If I sit down and think, "I need to make something," it overwhelms me.  I have no idea where I should start.

Lately, I  decided that I need to just jump in.  I find a stamp that needs to be used and commit myself to make something with it.  So that is what I am sharing today.

I kept this card one layer.  Since I had to do some masking for the party hat, I took advantage of the corners of the MISTI.  First, I stamped the hat, balloon, and present in the bottom corner.  I moved my cardstock up to the far corner and masked the party hat and then stamped the dog.

After I colored the images, I went back and did my favorite technique.  I over-stamped the existing image with Versafine Onyx Black Ink so that I can add clear embossing powder. After heat setting the embossing powder, you can really see the image pop. If you haven't tried doing this, you should.

In the video, I mention our family dog.  I said that I would show you her picture and I thought I would tell you more about our Ginger.  You will have to watch the video to learn why the dog on my card is not colored like her.

My Little Petunia has always had a love for animals.   She had been asking for a dog for the longest time.  We wanted to make sure that she was up to the responsibility.  The rule was that she had to keep her room clean for a whole year.  Did she do it?  Yes.

My Little Petunia shopped around for a Chihuahua.  Not just any Chihuahua, but the $1800 kind.  Until we told her that she had to pay for a third of it.  So she found a rescue dog for $35.

Ginger was three years old when we got her.  We were her second rescue home.  She has been a part of our family for a little over a year.  She loves people but not other dogs.  She really has to get to know them.  Makes you wonder what she went through before we brought her home.  None the less, she is the sweetest dog.

Thanks for stopping by.

  3. thanks for the tip on over-embossing with the black.
I have to try that. The designs do have a crisp,
    bright edging.
thanks for helping a rescue dog. they've often
been through so much and need a safe refuge.
    take care.

  4. My dog is named Ginger as well. Ginger Leigh. Great card, love those dog stamps. I bought them and am having so much fun with them. The MISTI, is clearly the best tool a stamper could have. Perfect stamping every time.

  6. Cute card and I like your tip about stamping back over the image. I enjoyed your video and had to chuckle about your cute puppy looking like a hyena and how to color that. I wouldn't have a clue either! Ginger really reminds me of a dog we took in when I was a kid. She was orangey-red and she showed up on our porch in a pregnant state. My mom said don't you dare feed that dog, but I already had :)
