Team Tuesday Guest Post - Jeanne Streiff

Hi everyone - it's Team Tuesday, and today we are happy to introduce you to our friend Jeanne Streiff.

Jeanne also joined us at Creativation, and we love her mixed media skill, and ability to think outside the box.

Here is Jeanne in her own words - we are happy to have her talent, and crazy chicken lady self on our team.

Hi! My name is Jeanne Streiff I live in the great state of Texas with my husband. We share four grown sons and two absolutely perfect grandchildren. When I’m not crafting or having family time my free time is spent hugging my chickens, ducks, dogs and cats.

I've colored and created art since I was old enough to hold a crayon. I was a stay at home Mom for 20+ years and found my way to Splitcoaststampers.com in 2005. I was asked to be on the Splitcoast Dirty Dozen and have been working as a Designer ever since. I've enjoyed working with some wonderful stamp and art supply companies ever since. My work has been published in assorted magazines and books over the years.

My life is good. I get to spend hours each day creating fun things and working with some of my favorite people. I'm so proud to be a part of the My Sweet Petunia team. The MISTI is truly the best stamping tool ever invented. You can find more of my work at my blog, Inky Paws.

Happy Valentine's Day!

I have a number of favorite uses for my MISTI tool. One of the best for me is not only knowing my sentiment will be perfect (even if I don't stamp it right the first time) but that I can stamp as many times as I want on not so easy surfaces like paint and still get a perfect sentiment.

I started by creating my heart background using a stamp from Impression Obsession (Brush Stroke Heart) and Spun Sugar Distress ink and my trusty Mini MISTI.  I added some ink randomly with the ink cube and sponged directly on the stamp to remove any hard ink edges from the pad.

Did you see the trio magnet in the corner? It's one of the magnets in the new My Sweet Petunia Creative Corners set (the set comes with 2 of them!). This is my go to magnet now. It's so great for position and holding down the paper in the MISTIs - it even works great on warpy watercolor paper.

Next I added some Shaded Lilac ink and stamped. Still looking a little rough. That's ok!

My 3rd color is Picked Raspberry. Ink, sponge, stamp...

I kept alternating colors until I got the shades I wanted for the main part of the heart and then sponged just the edges of the stamp first with Spun Sugar and then Picked Raspberry.

Next I decided I wanted to make the heart stand out a little from the pink of the card back so I used some white acrylic paint and painted the lines and then added some teeny lines around the edges to give it an aged wood feel. I thinned he paint with a little water and added some splatters.
Let everything dry before the next step.

I added the sentiment (Impression Obsession Bloomin Love You) with Raven detail ink from Brutus Monroe. It took a few tries (this is what makes the MISTI tools so dang awesome!) but I covered all of the paint perfectly.

I decided this sentiment needed a little flower. I stamped a flower from Daisies & Hearts (Impression Obsession) in Spun Sugar on white cardstock and went old school and cut it out with scissors.
I added a yellow enamel dot center before attaching it to my card.

I hope you enjoyed my project!

Have a great day! Jeanne
