Deck the Halls

It is that time of year that we prepare for Christmas cards.  You will hear me call the holiday Christmas.  I am not trying to be controversial.   Not sure why it is offensive to say Merry Christmas.  I know that there are other faiths that don't celebrate Christmas.  There are holidays on the calendar that I don't celebrate also.  Reality is that the calendar does say Christmas Day.

Wouldn't it be nice to just freely say to a stranger "Merry Christmas " and not fear offending.  It would also be great if said stranger, instead of being offended just replied with their greeting of choice.  Just like we should not be offended if some one says, "Happy Holidays" to us; we should just reply with our greeting of our choice.

We live in a society that wants tolerance and acceptance.  I find it that tolerance and acceptance has to go both ways.  So lets truly embrace each other, differences and all, and let's DECK THE HALLS!

For today's card, I used the branch from Ellen Hutson's Homespun Holidays and the sentiment from Concord & 9th O Christmas Tree stamp set.  The tiny berries are from Joy, also by Concord & 9th.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy the step by step instructions in the video.

  2. A big amen to you. Thank you for standing up for what you believe in, Merry Christmas.
(P.S. that's big coming from me before Thanksgiving, another glossed over holiday.)

  3. I totally agree with you. No one should be offended if you say Merry Christmas. After all that is the reason for the season, to celebrate Christ's birth. If you don't celebrate that then Happy Holidays is okay with me but don't expect me to change my greeting. I respect other one's beliefs they should respect mine.

  5. Thank you for your comments about "Merry Christmas" greetings. I am a Christian so my greeting is always going to be "Merry Christmas"...but I am never offended when the reply is different. Thank you for this beautiful "Deck the Halls" card...I love it.

  6. I wholeheartedly agree... you should be able to say Merry Christmas without it offending anyone. As should the words Happy Holidays. Especially since *most* people mean them in replacement of the longer "Merry Christmas and Happy New Year." Let's not look for ways to get offended where they are not intended.

  8. THANK YOU!!!!!!! I agree with you wholeheartedly. I hope that some day people will stop being so difficult. Why get upset about this sort of thing? I don't get upset when someone says Happy Holidays. Let it go, let it go.....

  14. I am in total agreement with you. How so well said and Thank you for saying this. My greeting for Christmas has always been Merry Christmas but lately there has been so much talk about whether to say this on a card or something else. I am so happy to have read this from you. I am never offended to anyones holiday or their greetings and I've felt they should respect my thoughts also. You are so right in saying tolerance and acceptance has to go both ways!!!!
Thank you and I wish you a very Merry Christmas!!
    Hugs
