Last Day of MISTI May-nia

I can't believe that this is the last day of MISTI May-nia.  This month just flew by.  It really has been fun to read all the comments about the excitement.  I love to see what everyone makes with their MISTI.

If you haven't heard, we have been giving away one Mini MISTI every day this month.  Sadly, today is the last giveaway.  I will leave this giveaway open until June 6, 2016.  All you have to do is leave a comment to enter to win.

The card I plan to share was inspired by my friend Ilina Crouse.   Yes, our names are really close.  So close, some people email her instead of me.

This beautiful card was made by Ilina.  I jokingly asked if she needed my address so she can send it to me.  I was so excited when she said she was actually sending it to me.  It is just gorgeous.

Instead of duplicating her work, I just thought I would link to her video so that you can enjoy her technique.  I did ask her if I could use it and she gave me permission.  

Here is my card.  I used Simon Says Stamp Retro Thanks stamp set.  I made several of this card.  Each panel came out different.

 

It reminds me of an old cartoon, The Jetsons.  Which is strange because it is supposed to be retro.  It just looks like it would be on the outskirts of the city as you flew out in your little aircraft.  If only Rosie was available now,  I think we would have more time to play in our craft room.  

Now that I look at it as I am writing this, I think I will go add tiny rhinestones to the arrow sign.  That will finish it off.

MEMORY-ial Day Sale

Today, there will be people enjoying a day off from work.  Many trips have been taken this weekend.  Many burgers and hot dogs will be grilled.  Today there will be great sales everywhere and many things will be purchased.

Sometimes we forget the true meaning of Memorial Day as we enjoy the things mentioned - as free people should. There's a reason we can enjoy these things, and it's not an altogether joyful reason. But these were sacrifices that were given with great courage, and given freely, thanks to the country we live in and our values. As a veteran who freely and willingly served our country, I respect and am awed by the selfless sacrifice of others.

So today, let's not forget the MEMORY of those that have given their lives for the freedom we take for granted.

I hope your families are safe today - and our prayers are with those who have lost loved ones, welcomed home injured loved ones, or worry today about deployed friends and family.

We too, are offering a small gift in honor of Memorial Day, and if you are getting crafty this weekend, we hope you enjoy it. You may wonder why I am doing this?  It is a simple explanation.  I feel so blessed by the outpouring of support from crafters like you.  You have supported my endeavor from the beginning.  Two years ago,  I was a crafter looking for a way to bring this great idea to others.

I have learned a lot since this began.  I have learned about the power of social media.  I have learned a lot about the caliber of the different types of people out there.  What my Voice of Reason keeps reminding me about is to focus on the people that support me.

YOU SUPPORT ME!  So I want to thank you the best way I know how.  It really is not about a free product.  It is about helping you to share the gift that God has given you to create something to brighten another's day.

But there is more.  This month we also launched our award winning Memory MISTI.

It has been almost 2 years since I have had a chance to scrapbook.  I really wanted to use some of my patterned paper but I couldn't find the right background paper.   So...... I made my own.  

I loved the way it turned out so I even made a matching card.

MISTI May-nia Day 1

Hi EVERYONE!   It is Iliana, and I get to kick off MISTI May-nia.   There are two of us posting today so that means there are two chances to win a Mini MISTI.

Today's card is using Taylored Expressions Zinnia stamp set.

 I used watercolors to create my background.  I used my MISTI to stamp on the coordinating dies.  It was easy to make multiples once the die and stamped were lined up.  Here is a variation of the same card.

The bottom layer was a piece of patterned 6 x 6 paper from my stash.  I used stitched rectangles from Lawn Fawn for my layers.
